Bikram Choudhury

Well I've made it to Honolulu and the training has started. There is so much to say about this training but I decided to write my first blog about the man himself, Bikram Choudhury.

I have to admit I was a little nervous and very excited to meet him. I had heard he can be very critical and that he is not at all politically correct. Truth be told... so far he is living up to those descriptions. On the flip side of that coin though, he has the most genuine smile and the kindest eyes of any human being I have ever met. There is something calming about him. He is grounded, very open, honest and does not personalize any judgement he or anyone else makes. So... I have to say, I like him.

He randomly breaks out into song and dance whenever he feels like it, whether it is during a yoga class or a lecture. He will go off on a tangent about one of his famous friends or his expensive cars and is able come back around to his point using a wonderful metaphor or a story his guru told him. He says whatever he feels like he needs to say, some of it is insightful and inspiring and some of it is rude, crude and offensive. As he would say "there is much gold to be mined through all the dirt".

Its kind of refreshing really; to have someone around who is not afraid of any part of himself or anyone else. I am looking forward to learning much more from him.
